International
Legal Advisory
for Your Business

  • An individual approach to every matter
  • Confidentiality and adherence to professional standards

I advise companies and private clients whose matters cross borders: which country's rules actually apply, how contracts and data terms should read, and what changes when a product, a team or a counterparty sits in another jurisdiction.

Desk detail with documents and a pen

I am Casey Johns, an independent legal adviser and consultant. I work with companies and private clients at the points where a legal question shapes a practical decision.

Clients, counterparties and operations are rarely confined to one country. Where more than one legal system touches a matter, the first task is to establish which requirements actually apply to it.

I start from your situation: I look at the circumstances, identify the questions that need attention, and set out the steps worth considering. Whether that ends in a short written answer, a set of documents or continuing support is a decision we take together.

You discuss your matter with me directly, from the first enquiry to the final document.

Where I can help

Three directions of work. Each starts with the same question: what actually applies to your situation, and what follows from it.

01

Business legal support

Support at the points where a legal question shapes a commercial decision: a transaction, a counterparty, a restructuring, a new market.

  • Legal analysis (due diligence) of documents and transactions
  • Review and drafting of contracts
  • Preparation of written legal opinions
02

Cross-border support

Advice for matters that do not sit inside one country: a counterparty abroad, a document that has to work in two legal systems, an operation moving between jurisdictions.

  • Establishing which jurisdictions and requirements apply to your situation
  • Preparation and adaptation of documents for use in another jurisdiction
  • Coordination of local advisers and of the overall timeline
03

Digital and data

The legal questions that come with running a business online: the data you hold, the terms you publish, and the technology you rely on.

  • Analysis of how personal data is collected, used and transferred, including transfers across borders
  • Review of privacy notices, website and service terms, and internal rules
  • Assessment of legal questions arising from the use of AI and third-party technology

Not sure which of these your question belongs to?

Describe the situation in a few lines. If it is not something I can help with, I will say so at that first stage.

Describe the situation

How I work

Five things that shape how a matter is taken on, scoped and seen through.

01

Plain answers

What applies to your situation, where the risks sit, and which steps are worth considering, in language you can act on.

02

International context

Where you operate, where your counterparties are and where a document will be used all matter. They are part of the analysis, not an afterthought.

03

Scope and limits, agreed first

We agree the volume of work and the fee before anything starts. If a matter falls outside what I do, I say so at that first stage.

04

Direct communication

You work with me. Questions go to the person handling the matter, not through an intake queue.

05

Confidentiality

What you share stays confidential and is handled to professional standards. Nothing is passed on without your instruction.

Common questions,
answered plainly

The things people ask before a first conversation, with the answers I would give on a call.

What kind of matters do you take on?

Advisory and consulting work for companies and private clients: analysis of documents and transactions, drafting, written opinions, and support while a matter runs. Court representation is not part of the service. Where a matter needs it, I help you find and instruct someone locally qualified.

Who will handle my matter?

I will. You deal with one adviser from the first enquiry to the final document, and there is no team the work gets passed down to.

Do you work with clients in other countries?

Yes. Most matters here involve more than one country, and the first part of the work is usually establishing which requirements apply to the situation in front of us.

Can you guarantee the outcome?

No, and no adviser can. The result depends on the circumstances of the matter, the documents behind it and the decisions of other parties. What I can do is set out what the position looks like and what your options are.

Tell me what needs resolving

Reviewing a document before you sign it, entering a new market, or working out which country's requirements apply to your situation? Describe the matter briefly. I will come back with questions and tell you how I can help.

How the work starts

  1. 01
    Your enquiry

A short description of the matter, the countries involved, and any deadline.

  2. 02
    Scope and terms

I come back with questions and tell you whether this is something I can help with, then we agree the volume of work, the timeline and the fee before anything starts.

  3. 03
    The work itself

Analysis, documents or continuing support, with the position explained at each stage.

A general description is enough for a first enquiry. Please do not include sensitive personal data or attach documents at this stage.

How your data is handled is set out in the Privacy Policy.
